WHAT’S the DIFFERENCE in BOTOX® and DYSPORT®?

Although Botox® is one of the most well-known injectable procedures, it isn’t the only cosmetic solution. Dysport® is a similar product that is readily available and frequently used by the nation’s most successful facial plastic surgeons, of which Dr. Daniel Daube is one.

However, to determine which of these products is right for you, you need to consider the two products; what they are and what they do.

Botox® and Dysport® are neuromodulators that temporarily relax or alter muscle nerves. By stopping the natural nerve impulses of the muscle, they essentially freeze your muscle and keep it from creating wrinkles or sagging. Equally as exciting, not only are these treatments corrective, but they are preventative as well, tightening the muscles and preventing deeper frown lines.

USES of the PRODUCTS

Botox® and Dysport® can be used to treat a variety of issues, including:

  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Frown lines around the brows (also known as the “Elevens”)
  • Crow’s feet
  • Nasal squint lines (also known as “Bunny Lines”)
  • Excessive sweating
  • Migraines

So, what’s the difference between the two?

Differences in these neuromodulators lie within their makeup, although they both contain Botulinum Toxin A or bacterium Clostridium Botulinum.

Botox® is one of the most sought-after beauty treatments. This injected botulinum toxin temporarily freezes the muscles that create the wrinkles and fine lines. The injection is a simple, quick, and relatively pain-free procedure that will give you a fresh, more youthful appearance. The injection only takes a few minutes to perform, and there is no downtime. Generally, the effects of the treatment last anywhere from three to six months.

With Dysport®, this neuromodulator relaxes muscles in the face that cause age-related indentations in the skin. Some wrinkles, such as crow’s feet, frown lines, and lines on the forehead, develop when facial expressions pinch the skin. Over time, the skin loses its elasticity. Dysport® works to correct these signs of aging, which can last four to six months.
