The Difference Between Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®

Although Botox® is one of the most well-known filler procedures, it isn’t the only cosmetic solution. Dysport® and Xeomin® are similar products that are readily available and frequently used by the nation’s top facial plastic surgeons. But, which of these fillers is right for you? Below we discuss each of these options:

Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are all neuromodulators that temporarily relax or alter muscle nerves. By halting the natural nerve impulses of the muscle, they essentially freeze your muscle and keep it from creating wrinkles or sagging. Not only are these treatments corrective, but they are preventive as well, tightening the muscles and preventing deeper frown lines. When applied correctly, the effects are limited to the specific treatment area, giving desirable results.

The use of Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® varies, but they can be used to treat a variety of issues including:
·     Horizontal forehead lines
·     Frown lines around the brows (the “Elevens”)
·     Crow’s feet
·     Nasal squint lines
·     Neck lines
·     Sagging eyebrows
·     Excessive sweating
·     Migraines

The Difference Between Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®
The difference between these three dermal fillers lies within their makeup. Although they all contain Botulinum Toxin A or bacterium Clostridium Botulinum, Xeomin® features a far different and cleaner formula. Released as an alternative to Botox® and Dysport®, it is the newest product and contains no additives, consisting only of the single ingredient Botulinum Toxin A.

Botox®

Botox® is one of the most sought-after beauty treatments. This injected botulinum toxin temporarily freezes the muscles that create wrinkles and fine lines. The injection is a simple, quick, and relatively pain-free procedure that will give you a fresh, more youthful appearance. The treatment only takes a few minutes to perform, and there is no downtime. The effects of the injections generally last anywhere from three to six months.

Dysport®

Dysport® is a neuromodulator that relaxes muscles in the face that cause age-related indentations in the skin. Some wrinkles, such as crow’s feet, frown lines, and lines on the forehead, develop when your facial expressions pinch the skin. Over time, the skin loses its elasticity. Dysport® works to correct these signs of aging. Results from Dysport® injections may last four to six months.

Xeomin®

Xeomin® works to prevent the body from forming resistant antibodies. That means it keeps working over time. Xeomin® is preferable for those currently receiving treatment for neuromuscular conditions because while Botox® and Dysport® can interfere and change due to certain medications and procedures, Xeomin® does not. Similar to Botox® and Dysport®, Xeomin® typically lasts anywhere from three to four months.
