Determining the correct skincare routine can be complicated and confusing. Over-the-counter products make significant claims, but if the chemistry of the product is not right for your skin type, the results can be devastating.
Your Skin Type … Your Schedule
Everyone is busy, so in establishing a good skincare routine, it needs to be something you can easily fit into your schedule. Enough time should be allowed to cleanse, tone, and moisturize your face, which means about 15 minutes, twice a day. Morning and evening are usually the best times for this practice.
While some skincare practices are necessary to use every day, other products should only be done once a week (such as face masks or other specialty spa treatments). Factor these treatments into your weekly or monthly schedule as determined by your aesthetician. Facials and chemical peels are beneficial for the skin, but they should only be done once per month at most. Light therapy treatments can be done more than once per month, but understand that misuse of any product or treatment may cause adverse reactions to your skin.
Good Habits Take Consistency
Experts tell us that to establish a good habit, you must follow a set routine for at least 31 days. Unfortunately, skincare is usually not one of our top priorities in our busy schedules. Omitting skincare routines can limit the effectiveness of the products we use, so be sure to make it a priority by never skipping this beginning and final step in your day. This dedication will lead to better results, but habits take time to form.
Choose Products Based on Your Skin Type
Dr. Daniel Daube has designed his own private-label skincare products that are specific to the various skin types. So, do a visual analysis of your skin to determine places you’d like to correct. Notice: Is your skin too oily … or … dry? Is your face peeling, or does it lack a natural glow? Our Aesthetician, Melissa, can help you choose products made to target your individual skincare needs. Because everyone’s skin is unique to them, we’ll use our expertise to match our various treatments to your particular routine.
At Gulf Coast Facial Plastics, we ask that you follow the instructions on the packaging carefully. Schedule regular checkups with our Aesthetician to determine what proactive procedures may be necessary to ensure clear skin.
Dr. Daube has also designed a very successful acne program that has been used by hundreds with extremely successful results.
