Best Laser Procedures for the First of the Year

Winter can be one of the best times of year to complete cosmetic laser treatments. Most laser procedures require you to stay out of the sun as you recover, which means the cooler months are an ideal time to explore these options.

Dr. Daniel Daube and his Medical Aesthetician offer a variety of laser possibilities in the Medical Spa, but here are a few of our most popular treatments:

LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Unwanted body hair is something that plagues many people … both males and females. Laser hair removal has become a popular solution to get rid of this hair anywhere on your body. The technology targets follicles in the area where you want hair removed, making it hard, to almost impossible, for the hair to grow back.

Even though we have beautiful weather on the Gulf Coast virtually year-round, after having this procedure, you are required to avoid sunlight on the treated area. Our Aesthetician will go over your post-procedure directions at the end of your appointment.

LASER TATTOO REMOVAL

More and more companies are restricting the appearance of tattoos at their places of business. Plus, perhaps the topic of your tattoo is no longer relevant to your lifestyle. Regardless of the reason why you want to remove your tattoo, our medical professionals at Gulf Coast Facial Plastics are here to help. Removing a tattoo with laser energy works by administering a specific wavelength of intense light into your skin, which begins to remove the ink. The light is only absorbed by the tattoo pigments, and your skin remains unharmed. The light energy breaks apart the pigments, which are then absorbed by your body and eliminated. After each treatment, we encourage you to take extra precautions to protect the treated skin from sunlight, since the area will be much more sensitive to the damaging effects of the sun. Removing a tattoo may also require several laser treatments, depending on the type of ink and depth used in the process.

CO2 LASER

The CO2 laser can be used to help treat deep wrinkles and reverse scarring and/or sun damage. This technique uses pulsed beams of light to remove skin tissue in columns, which is known as a fractionated method, which leaves the skin intact to aid in healing. Common side effects may include swelling in the treated area, along with some redness and irritation similar to sunburn. After the procedure, you can return to normal activities within two days. Our staff will give you post-treatment instructions in order for you to receive optimal results from the CO2.

Laser skin treatments can yield fast and dramatic results. Dr. Daniel Daube continues to build on his laser capabilities by purchasing the most technologically advanced lasers in the area. The Difference Between Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®

Although Botox® is one of the most well-known filler procedures, it isn’t the only cosmetic solution. Dysport® and Xeomin® are similar products that are readily available and frequently used by the nation’s top facial plastic surgeons. But, which of these fillers is right for you? Below we discuss each of these options:

Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® are all neuromodulators that temporarily relax or alter muscle nerves. By halting the natural nerve impulses of the muscle, they essentially freeze your muscle and keep it from creating wrinkles or sagging. Not only are these treatments corrective, but they are preventive as well, tightening the muscles and preventing deeper frown lines. When applied correctly, the effects are limited to the specific treatment area, giving desirable results.

The use of Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin® varies, but they can be used to treat a variety of issues including:
·     Horizontal forehead lines
·     Frown lines around the brows (the “Elevens”)
·     Crow’s feet
·     Nasal squint lines
·     Neck lines
·     Sagging eyebrows
·     Excessive sweating
·     Migraines

The Difference Between Botox®, Dysport®, and Xeomin®
The difference between these three dermal fillers lies within their makeup. Although they all contain Botulinum Toxin A or bacterium Clostridium Botulinum, Xeomin® features a far different and cleaner formula. Released as an alternative to Botox® and Dysport®, it is the newest product and contains no additives, consisting only of the single ingredient Botulinum Toxin A.

Botox®

Botox® is one of the most sought-after beauty treatments. This injected botulinum toxin temporarily freezes the muscles that create wrinkles and fine lines. The injection is a simple, quick, and relatively pain-free procedure that will give you a fresh, more youthful appearance. The treatment only takes a few minutes to perform, and there is no downtime. The effects of the injections generally last anywhere from three to six months.

Dysport®

Dysport® is a neuromodulator that relaxes muscles in the face that cause age-related indentations in the skin. Some wrinkles, such as crow’s feet, frown lines, and lines on the forehead, develop when your facial expressions pinch the skin. Over time, the skin loses its elasticity. Dysport® works to correct these signs of aging. Results from Dysport® injections may last four to six months.

Xeomin®

Xeomin® works to prevent the body from forming resistant antibodies. That means it keeps working over time. Xeomin® is preferable for those currently receiving treatment for neuromuscular conditions because while Botox® and Dysport® can interfere and change due to certain medications and procedures, Xeomin® does not. Similar to Botox® and Dysport®, Xeomin® typically lasts anywhere from three to four months.

The Best Facial Procedures for the Holidays

The holidays are a great time to treat yourself, so why not give yourself a gift that will make you feel and look better in time for the holidays. Here are some of the best facial procedures that we recommend for the holidays:

Botox®

One of the most popular and time-efficient facial beauty treatments is Botox®. Botox® works by freezing your facial muscles to help smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. Wrinkles in your face can be caused by an array of factors such as stress, poor health, and sun damage. The recovery time for Botox® is incredibly quick and there is no downtime, making it a great treatment to complete before the holidays arrive.

Kybella®

Another minimally invasive procedure that you may consider before the holidays is Kybella®. Kybella® is used to treat a condition known as submental fullness, which many people refer to a double chin. Having excess fat in the upper neck area is not always due to lifestyle or fitness level. It is most commonly caused by genetics. Kybella® uses digestive tract enzymes that target and break down this fat. Kybella® has little downtime and requires no incisions. The results of Kybella® can take several weeks to appear, so schedule your appointment today!

Skin Resurfacing

Do you have age spots or sun damage that you’d like to eliminate in time for the holidays? Skin resurfacing can help remove damaged layers of skin to reveal young, fresh, flawless cells. This procedure can help with brown spots, wrinkles, fine lines, acne scarring, and more. Skin resurfacing uses laser technology to remove the outer layers of skin. The recovery time for this procedure is fairly quick and doesn’t require extensive downtime. Skin resurfacing will give your skin a fresh, new start in the new year.

The Best Laser Procedures to Complete During Fall

Fall can be one of the best times of the year to complete cosmetic laser treatments. Most laser treatments require you to stay out of the sun as you recover, making the cooler months an ideal time to explore laser treatment options. Here are some of the best laser procedures to consider during the fall:

Laser Hair Removal

After this procedure, you are required to avoid sunlight on the treated area.

CO2 Laser

The CO2 laser uses pulsed beams of light to remove skin tissue in columns, which is known as a fractionated method that leaves the skin, around each column, intact to aid in healing. Common side effects include swelling in the treated area along with redness and irritation similar to that of sunburn. After the procedure, you can return to normal activities within two days. Our staff will advise you to stay out of the sun and make sure to wear sunscreen, daily, for several weeks during the healing process.

Laser skin treatments can yield fast and dramatic results. Many of these treatments require patients to avoid sunlight, which makes them excellent procedures to consider during the cooler, fall months.
