Which Dermal Filler Is Right For You?

Dermal fillers are injected directly into the skin and are commonly used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. They can increase volume and revitalize the skin giving it a more youthful appearance. Dermal fillers are based on a substance we naturally produce in the body called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a molecule that transports nutrients and regulates water balance in the skin. The most common areas treated are the lips, forehead, between the eyebrows, and nasolabial folds. A cosmetic surgeon or other licensed physicians can perform dermal filler injections. Dr. Daube performs dermal filler injections. The Gulf Coast Facial Plastics offers other types of cosmetic fillers including Botox® and Dysport®.

Botulinum toxin, also referred to as Botox®, works by temporarily paralyzing the muscles under the skin. It is one of the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatments on the market today. It blocks the signal from the nerve to the muscles. Once the tissue is injected with this particular filler, it can no longer tighten. This causes fine lines and wrinkles to relax and soften. It can also be used to treat certain muscular conditions. Physicians have used Botox® to treat migraines, bowel and bladder disorders, and excessive sweating. The bacteria that Botulinum toxin is derived from can be found in lakes, soil, forests, and other natural settings. Botulinum toxin is relatively safe when administered by a licensed professional. Possible side effects may include:

  • Headache
  • Flu symptoms
  • Bruising or swelling
  • Crooked smile
  • Excessive tearing
  • Droopy eyelid
  • Dry eye

This filler provides a more natural look to those who need to plump up frown lines and wrinkles. It can fill in the lines between the eyebrows without changing the movement of your face. Approved in more than 70 countries, Dysport® has over 24 years of clinical use. It works by reducing, temporarily, muscle activity in specific areas. The injectable filler prevents muscles from contracting without resulting in a frozen look. It takes 2-3 days to see its effects and can last for 4-5 months. There are virtually no side effects except for possible mild bruising, and minimal downtime. Dysport® is an ideal dermal filler for anyone who is unhappy with the signs of aging on their face. You will be left with a radiant appearance that looks youthful and refreshed.

How to Find the Right Skincare Routine for Your Skin

Choosing the correct skin care routine with the right products for your skin type can be difficult. Here are a few tips on how to find the skin routine that’s right for you:

Fit Skin Care into Your Busy Schedule

You should start establishing a good skincare routine by carving out some time in your schedule. You should allow enough time to cleanse, tone, and moisturize your face. About 15 minutes twice a day—once in the morning and again in the evening—should do the trick depending on the products you use.

It is important to note that while some skincare practices are necessary every day, others should only be done once a week (such as face masks or other spa treatments). It is important to factor these activities into your weekly schedule. Facials, chemical peels, and light therapy are all very helpful for the skin, but they should only be done once a month at most. Put these treatments into your schedule, but do not schedule them more often than recommended.

Make it a Habit

Often, skin care is not one of our top priorities. Omitting skin care can limit the effectiveness of the products we use, so be sure to make it a priority never to skip skin care. Daily dedication will lead to best results. Habits take time to form, but making skin care a regular part of your day will inevitably pay off.

Choose Products Based on Your Needs

Take a visual analysis of your skin and see what you would like to correct about your skin. Is your skin oily? Is it too dry? Is it peeling? Does it lack a natural glow? Choose products that are made to target your individual skincare needs. Everybody’s skin is different, and thus will require different treatment plans and products.

At Gulf Coast Facial Plastics, we have an extensive line of skincare products. After finding the products that are right for you, make sure to follow the instructions on the bottle carefully. Schedule regular checkups with our aesthetician to determine proactive procedures that may be necessary to ensure clear skin. Also, ask for their recommendation on additional steps that may help specific issues.

Follow these tips to help you find the right skincare routine for you and your skin will look and feel healthier in no time. If you have any questions or would like a more personalized skincare plan, contact the experts and Gulf Coast Facial Plastics today!

The Benefits of Dermal Fillers

Are you unhappy or self-conscious about your appearance due to lines and wrinkles on your face? Surgery is only one option for lines and wrinkles on your face. There are other selections to reduce the signs of aging to help your face look young and healthy again. A minimally invasive treatment known as a dermal filler may be just the answer you’re looking for. This anti-aging procedure has become increasingly popular in recent years.

Causes of Skin Aging
Besides genetics and sun exposure, one of the most powerful factors in the development of skin aging is the gradual loss of subcutaneous fat under the surface of facial skin. Since your facial muscles will then be closer to the surface of your skin, wrinkles will become more evident with time.

Facial aging can also be caused by the gradual loss of skin volume. As you grow older, your body produces less of the substances that promote skin thickness. As you lose these substances, your skin tends to become thinner and more prone to lines and wrinkles.

Types of Dermal Fillers
A dermal filler consists of an injectable gel containing various substances that promote increased skin thickness to help smooth away fine lines and wrinkles. Some common dermal filler ingredients include collagen, hyaluronic acid, and fat transfer. Each is used for somewhat different situations, depending upon your own unique facial structure and overall skin condition.

Collagen Dermal Filler
Collagen is a naturally occurring substance produced by the body. Unfortunately, getting older eventually leads to a gradual loss of collagen production. Since the role of collagen in your skin is to provide a structure or framework for healthy cells to build around, its depletion leads to skin that is thinner and more vulnerable to the development of lines and wrinkles.

Injection with a collagen dermal filler can help reverse this damaging process. You should see a rapid improvement in the thickness of your facial skin and the minimization of lines, wrinkles, and sunken areas at the treatment sites.

Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Filler
Like collagen, hyaluronic acid is a naturally produced substance that declines with age. Hyaluronic acid has a strong affinity for moisture. It possesses the unique ability to attract many times its own weight in water molecules, which has both a plumping and moisturizing effect on your skin.

The age-related loss of hyaluronic acid leads to skin that becomes thinner and drier. It also leads to the formation of wrinkles. Think of an empty riverbed. Its surface will be dry and cracked. Just like that riverbed, a loss of moisture in your skin leads to the facial cracks known as wrinkles. An injection with a hyaluronic acid dermal filler will cause your skin to drink in all that good moisture and fill in lines and wrinkles, leaving your skin looking more moist, radiant, and youthful.

Benefits of Dermal Fillers
Since treatment with a dermal filler never requires any incisions, you should be able to return to your daily activities immediately after your treatment. Dermal fillers also have the benefit of offering immediate results that appear quite soft and natural. Because they typically utilize natural substances, they also have an extremely low incidence of side effects like allergies.

If you think dermal fillers are right for you, give us a call today at Gulf Coast Facial Plastics in Panama City. Together, we can form a treatment plan to help you feeling healthy, young, and wrinkle free again!

The Best Facial Procedures to Have Done in the Summer

Summer is here, and with it comes the perfect time to improve your appearance! If you want to rejuvenate your face, consider any of these procedures in the upcoming months:

If you are struggling with unwanted wrinkles, injectables may be the answer to your dilemma. Botox® and Dysport® can aid in relaxing some of the tense facial muscles, reducing frown lines, crow’s feet, or forehead wrinkles. They are injected directly into your face and are relatively painless with minimal discomfort. After receiving your injection, you will be able to go about your usual activities.

Restalyne® is a dermal filler that helps with lines and wrinkles, such as the creases that develop from the outer tips of the nostrils to the corners of the mouth, as well as marionette lines that form just under the corners of the lips. The injectable gel contains hyaluronic acid to add volume to the skin.

As we get older, our face will show signs of wrinkles, sagging, and fine lines. When volume and fullness is lost, deep wrinkles become even more prominent. This why many people choose to use the injectable filler Juvederm®. Juvederm® wrinkle filler works immediately to smooth out lines and wrinkles, resulting in a more youthful appearance.

Regardless of what you are looking for, the experts at Gulf Coast Facial Plastics can help find a treatment that is right for you. Our team is here to assess your needs and design a plan of action. If you are looking to refresh your face this summer, come visit us at Gulf Coast Facial Plastics!

The Ins and Outs of Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty, or as some patients call it - “a nose job” - is surgery performed on your nose. This is done to enhance facial harmony as well as the proportions of your nose. It is also done to correct some imperfections, or birth defects, which could cause medical problems.

The procedure usually takes about an hour or two, except for in extreme cases. Prior to the procedure, anesthesia will be administered to you through an IV. Then, the skin of your nose is cut and separated from the framework of bone and cartilage. Once this is completed, the specific changes the patient has requested can be made by the facial plastic surgeon. Once the changes are completed, the skin is applied to the new framework. After the surgery, a splint is applied to the nose in order to maintain its new shape. Nasal packs, or soft splints, might also be placed in the nostrils in order to stabilize the septum.

Reasons for Rhinoplasty

  • If you are unhappy with your nose size or shape.
  • If your nostrils are too big, too small, or not in a good position.
  • If your nose has visible humps or depressions on the bridge.
  • If the tip of your nose is enlarged, drooping, upturned, or hooked.
  • If you want your nose to be more symmetrical with the rest of your face.

What Are the Benefits?

  • If you are suffering from long-term breathing issues, restructuring the nose can help improve your breathing.
  • If you are someone who suffers from low self-esteem, a new nose may help you feel more comfortable about your appearance.
  • If you suffer from headaches, constant nasal congestion, or sinus pressure, these can be eased by having this procedure done.
  • If you snore, and over the counter medications are not giving you the solution you want, Rhinoplasty may serve as a permanent solution.
  • If you suffer from birth defects, such as a lump, curve, or underdeveloped nose, surgery can be used to correct these issues
  • Believe it or not, this surgery can also boost your energy, as it allows more oxygen to circulate throughout your body.

What Are the Risks?

As with any surgery, there are always risks involved. With Rhinoplasty, the risks include:

  • Recurring nosebleeds
  • Difficulty breathing through your nose
  • Permanent numbness in and around your nose
  • Pain, discoloration, or swelling
  • Visible scarring

For more information on rhinoplasty and to find out if it may be right for you, contact Gulf Coast Facial Plastics and ENT Center today! We can help you make an informed decision and teach you more about the ins and outs of Rhinoplasty.

The Benefits of Chin Augmentation

If you’d like to change the size, projection, or the shape of your chin, chin augmentation may be an option for you. Mentoplasty, or chin augmentation, is a form of surgery performed to increase the size of your chin, or to reshape it so the face appearance remains balanced. Bone reshaping is conducted to minimize the chin size whereas implantation is performed to add more volume to your chin.

Who is Eligible for Chin Augmentation?

Anyone who is unhappy with their chin's appearance is a prospective client of chin augmentation. Many patients who seek chin augmentation are simply unhappy with the look of their chin. However, some patients choose chin augmentation to help fix the effects of trauma.

Benefits of Chin Augmentation

By opting for chin augmentation, you will enjoy many benefits such as:

  • Chin augmentation reshapes any deformity on your chin and gets rid of size irregularities.
  • The procedure helps you get a stronger facial profile, an occurrence that can quickly increase an individual's confidence.
  • Chin implants are customizable depending on the size and the shape you desire. A proficient facial plastic surgeon will advise you accordingly.
  • Mentoplasty enhances and supplements a receding or weak chin.
  • If you are not pleased with the final results of the surgery, the implant can be removed.
  • Augmented chins provide symmetry to a patient’s face and boosts the balance of the facial features.
  • Chin augmentation is a straightforward procedure that can be performed on an outpatient basis.

Who Should Avoid Undergoing a Chin Augmentation?

No matter how beneficial chin augmentation is, this procedure is not suitable for everyone. Individuals who have long teeth and a short mandibular height are not qualified because it is hard for surgeons to establish proportionate features that suit their needs. Additionally, patients who have heart problems, are in poor health, or those using anticoagulants should never undergo this procedure.

What Are the Risks of Chin Enhancement?

Typically, chin augmentation surgery does not have any adverse effects; however, in rare cases, side effects may occur. Potential complications and risks associated with mentoplasty include:

  • Continuous pain
  • Displacement of implants
  • Numbness
  • Bruising
  • Blood Pooling
  • Infection of implants
  • Blood clots
  • Inflammation
  • Teeth damage

Choosing the Right Plastic Surgeon for a Facelift

Selecting the right plastic surgeon for your facelift procedure is crucial. Most of us have heard horror stories of patients seeking physical cosmetic alterations making a mistake of choosing facial plastic surgeons that disfigure their faces, or even put their lives in danger. These cases have been common even for renowned celebrities. There is no doubt, whenever you opt to go through a surgery, there are risks involved. Distorted physical appearances, or infections, are risks to consider when seeking a solution for your looks.

How can you ensure you pick the right surgeon? Price alone should never be a determining factor; in fact, it needs to be the last point you consider. Here are essential aspects to consider when picking a suitable plastic surgeon:

The expert you select for your facelift procedure needs to be highly credentialed by a recognized body like the American Academy of Facial plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS). Board certification means the surgeon has completed additional training in facial plastic surgery. This may seem obvious, but it is important to select a facial plastic surgeon who has specialized in plastic surgery. Be sure to check the board certification first.

Training and education isn't a substitute for experience. You have to work with an experienced surgeon who has successfully completed the cosmetic procedure including the techniques you would like to undergo. The experience is invaluable and helps ensure you get the desired outcome.

It should be noted that many facial plastic surgeons tend to limit their surgery skills to their line of specialty. First, you will have to discuss their experience first to avoid picking the wrong doctor for your condition. Once you are comfortable with their qualifications, consider discussing the side effects, limitations and associated risks of your procedure with the surgeon. Remember, there are different techniques for conducting facelifts; non-surgical and surgical procedures. These procedures offer different pros and cons, and your doctor will advise you accordingly. Don't forget to inquire about the aftercare to get optimum results.

When you read the reviews of past clients you can get an idea of the quality of service a surgeon can offer. Before you can select your surgeon, make sure you check sites like Healthgrades.com, RealSelf, and Google among others that provide patients with an opportunity to critique doctors firsthand. Here you will find people who have gone through procedures like yours and whether they were satisfied with the surgeon's level of competence or not.

It is important that you find a facial plastic surgeon with whom you can easily communicate your wants and needs. The professional needs to take time to ensure you understand the procedure or techniques well enough. He or she should answer all your questions including any concerns you may have during consultation before undergoing treatment. It is important you find a surgeon you can easily communicate your wants and needs to.

Hospital Privileges

Most surgeons provide outpatient services, but be sure you ask them if they have hospital privileges. Why is this important? Hospitals do background checks before hiring, or permitting, a doctor to practice on their premises. If a doctor isn't permitted hospital privileges, then that's a “red flag” to the consumer.

It is important to consider all these tips when choosing a facial plastic surgeon for your facelift. If you have any questions or concerns, schedule a consultation with Dr. Daube at Gulf Coast Facial Plastics & ENT Center!

Are You a Candidate for a Lip Enhancement?

If you have been considering lip enhancement as a way to rejuvenate and restore the youthful appearance of your lips, you're certainly not alone. According to a CBS News article, the number of Americans seeking to enhance the appearance of their lips has been on the rise since 2000, climbing to nearly 50% as of 2015. And the "beautiful lips" trend shows no signs of slowing down.

Why is this such a sought-after cosmetic treatment? What is the allure? The truth is, nothing denotes aging quite as profoundly as mouth wrinkles. Of course, not everyone is looking reverse the signs of aging; some people just want to improve the look of their lips. That being said, there are lip injections available to suit the budget-conscious, the indecisive, and everyone in between.

Who are the ideal candidates for a lip enhancement procedure? Well, before we delve into that subject, let’s take a look at some of the more common lip fillers on the market including: Soft tissue fillers, Dysport, Botox, and implants.

Soft Tissue Fillers

Soft tissue fillers are FDA approved absorbable materials that are injected into the lips to help smooth line around the mouth. It’s important to note that this option may require more than one injection before results become noticeable; also, the effects of soft tissue fillers are temporary.

For those who are seeking a natural-looking lip augmentation, Dysport injections may be the way to go. The prescription-only injection helps smooth moderate frown lines around the mouth without disrupting your ability to naturally move your lips, meaning you won’t experience the numbing or tingling typical of other lip fillers.

Botox is by far the most commonly requested type of lip injection; it is made from botulinum, which is used to block the nerves that contract muscles. In doing so, lines and wrinkles become less noticeable. However, similar to Dysport injections and soft tissue fillers, the results are temporary.

If you're seeking a permanent lip augmentation, implants may prove to be a better solution for you. Modern-day implants are comprised of soft, flexible silicone, making them more pliable than previously available implants. Your practitioner need only make two small incisions (one at each corner of the mouth), and with a specialized instrument, they can pull the implant into position. Although the process sounds painful, there is minimal discomfort and minimal healing time.

If you’re ready to reclaim your full lips, speak with a healthcare professional that can help you make an informed decision. Come see us at Gulf Coast Facial Plastics & ENT Center for all of your lip enhancement needs!

Things to Consider Before Facial Plastic Surgery

So, you’ve decided that perhaps a “nip and tuck” is needed on your face. Where do you begin in your search for a plastic surgeon that’s right for you? Of course, “word of mouth” is always a good starting point, but there are other questions you need to ask:

#1: To whom should you trust your face?

Whereas many plastic surgeons can do facial plastic surgery, doesn’t it make sense to consult with a surgeon whose specialty is faces, and only faces? These specialists should be members of the American Academy of Facial Plastics and Reconstructive Surgery, Inc. as well.

#2: What qualities should the physician have?

A facial plastic surgeon should, of course, be board certified. And, while a pleasant personality is a wonderful attribute, it is also important that the physician show compassion and empathy, good judgment and possess a strong sense of ethics.

#3: Is “Board Certification” enough?

With the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the surgeon must be a graduate of an approved Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) surgical residency program, possess a valid state medical license, undergo a peer review evaluation of his surgical experience, achieve satisfactory passing of a rigorous written and oral exam, provide references by several other reputable surgeons and possess a high code of ethics (www.abfprs.org). So, we recommend this added credentialing be part of your consideration.

#4: Are there other areas you need to consider?

  • You may want to ask how long the surgeon has been practicing, and how many procedures has he done similar to the surgery you are considering.
  • Where does the surgeon have privileges? And, if not in a hospital, is the surgery center accredited?
  • How comfortable are you with not only the physician, but with the staff and surroundings?
  • Have all the various options for the surgery been carefully explained to you?

To discuss all your cosmetic options, contact the region’s only Board Certified and Fellowship-trained Facial Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Daniel Daube, for a complimentary consultation. We believe you’ll find that Dr. Daube meets, and exceeds, all the qualifications and considerations mentioned above. In addition, Dr. Daube practices in an AAAASF Certified Ambulatory Surgical Facility. Everyone at Gulf Coast Facial Plastics and ENT Center is proud to live up to their slogan: “Where Art and Medicine Come Face to Face.” ©

What is a Brow Lift?

A brow lift or a forehead lift is a cosmetic surgical procedure that improves your forehead’s appearance, the area around the eyes, and the brows. In this procedure, it involves raising the soft tissue and skin of the brow and forehead. A brow lift is the most common endoscopic procedure that most cosmetic surgeons do. At times, it is accompanied by eyelid surgery, face lifts and some skin surfacing techniques.

Purpose of Brow Lift

The purpose of a brow lift is to change the position of sagging eyebrows and eliminate the tired or angry look you might have. This changes how you look completely and makes you have a more youthful appearance. Brow lifts also remove wrinkle lines that appear across your forehead, between your eyes and on the bridge of your nose.

Types of Brow Lifts

  • Endoscopic forehead rejuvenation: A surgeon makes incisions behind the hairline, and an endoscope is inserted to view the underlying tissues and muscles. From one of the incisions, another instrument is inserted to lift your forehead tissues and hold them in place using screws or sutures. Then the incisions are closed using small clips or stitches.
  • Hairline brow lift: A plastic surgeon makes an incision between the beginning of your hairline and the top of your forehead. The surgeon takes out a small number of tissues and skin from your forehead instead of your scalp. This technique is beneficial for those who want their horizontal creases to be less pronounced. It is done to help patients with high receding hairline. Depending on your healing, you might have a scar along your hairline.
  • Coronal brow lift: Your surgeon makes incisions across the top of your head behind your hairline, from ear to ear. They then proceed to lift your forehead to its new position by overlapping the scalp in front of the incisions to that of the back. The overlapping scalp is taken out, and the back scalp is put together. People with thinning hair or receding hairlines are not advised to have this procedure done.

After-care Instructions

Once the surgery is complete, your forehead is likely to be wrapped loosely or taped to minimize swelling. For the first few days, apply a cold compress on your forehead to reduce swelling and do not expose your incisions to any extreme pressure. When resting, keep your head elevated and take pain medication as instructed by your doctor.

You can notice the change almost immediately after your lift. The swelling will reduce over time, and the incision lines will disappear. Keep in mind that the results aren’t permanent and your skin might droop again. If you have questions about brow lifts, contact the trusted professionals at Gulf Coast Facial Plastics & ENT Center!

How to Protect Your Skin from Sun Damage

The sun may be beautiful and feel great during the warm weather, but it can cause a lot of damage if you’re not responsible. In addition to getting a sunburn, you can also be at risk for brown or red spots, dryness, wrinkles and skin cancer. While you probably can’t avoid the sun year-round (nor would you want to), there are plenty of ways to protect your skin so that you can enjoy sunny days.

1. Cover Up

Between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., which is when the sun is at its strongest, stay covered up. This can mean staying indoors, or wearing sunblock if you’re going to be outside. The best clothing to protect yourself includes hats with wide brims and clothing made from tight materials with a tight weave (these absorb the sunlight better than thinner, lighter fabrics). If you get wet after a swim, change into dry clothes, which protect your skin better than wet ones.

2. Wear Sunscreen

You should wear sunscreen every day, and make sure to pick one with an SPF of at least 15. Spread it on thickly, too. If you apply just a thin layer, it won’t be nearly as effective as it can be. If you’re going to be swimming, choose a waterproof sunscreen.

When it comes to sunblock, you should apply it early in the day and then reapply it frequently. Put it on half an hour before you’re going to be in the sun, which gives your body enough time to absorb it. Then reapply the sunblock every two hours, and more often if you’re swimming or sweating.

3. Protect Easy-to-Forget Body Parts

No matter how diligently you apply sunblock to your body and face, you’ll probably forget all about your ears and feet – a lot of people do. Don’t skip these areas, which are highly subject to sun damage. Your nose also needs extra SPF, or a stronger one, since it gets sunburned more quickly than the rest of your face.

Don’t forget your lips, either! They can easily get burnt, so you should use a lip balm with SPF, and reapply it frequently throughout the day.

4. Be Aware of Reflected Light

Direct sunlight isn’t the only type that’s dangerous. Even if you’re covering up with an umbrella for your day at the beach, you could have some sun rays that are reflected off the sand or water. If this happens, areas like the underneath part of your chin will be subject to sun damage. The best bet is to cover up with SPF as thoroughly as possible

5. Try Not to Sunbathe

As tempting as it is to spend an entire day working on your tan, sunbathing is really bad for your skin. Any tan, even a light one, isn’t healthy – it’s a sign of sun damage. While you may not be able to avoid getting a minor tan if you work or workout outside a lot, you can control whether or not you spend hours sunbathing. People with a fair complexion are at most risk, so they should never sunbathe.

Don’t take sun exposure lightly. Even a minor sunburn can pose a major risk. If you have any questions about sun damage or sun exposure, contact us today!

What is Bellafill?

If you are interested in getting rid of unwanted fine lines and wrinkles, now is the time to learn more about the various options available to you. One of these options is Bellafill. Below we have laid out more information about this cosmetic procedure and how it can take your aesthetic appeal to the next level:

Bellafill: A Brief Overview

Belafill is a dermal filler. This is the only FDA-approved dermal filler that stimulates collagen growth to maintain a youthful appearance for up to 5 years. It is used to correct nasolabial folds, which are also referred to as smile lines. This procedure can be effective for both men and women. Because Belafill is non-resorbable, it does not require reinjection as with other dermal fillers that are absorbed. In addition to correcting smile lines, Bellafill can be used to moderate or correct severe acne scars on the faces of patients who are 21 years and older.

Bellafill is a combination product. It is comprised of a local anesthetic called lidocaine and bovine collagen. The microspheres are created from a material referred to as polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA). The product is produced in compliance with USDA and FDA guidelines, and they are between 30 to 50 microns. This means that they are barely detectable by human eyes. Prior to using the product, a patient must obtain an allergy skin test. Additionally, the product should only be given when the patient is supervised by a licensed practitioner.

How Long Does The Procedure Last?

The results for this procedure are permanent. This means that the surgical removal of collagen will be required if the patient seeks to reverse the effects.

While Bellafill can be a useful product for many individuals, there are some patients who should not be treated with it. Specifically, patients with the following conditions should not use Bellafill:

  • Positive reaction to the allergy skin test
  • History of severe anaphylaxis, hypersensitivity, and allergies
  • Allergic to the lidocaine found in Bellafill
  • Tendency to form thick scars (hypertrophic scarring) or excessive scars (keloid scarring)
  • Plans to have desensitization injections to meat products

Also note that the product is contraindicated for lip augmentation as well as the injection into the wet mucosa or vermilion of the patient's lip.

Side Effects

While Bellafill can be effective in enhancing the patient's appearance, it's important to remember that the cosmetic procedure can engender multiple side effects. Some of them include:

  • Redness
  • Bruising
  • Pain/Soreness
  • Swelling
  • Itching
  • Tenderness

Typically, bruising is mild and continues for 3-7 days. The redness and swelling also tend to be mild, and they occur at the site of treatment.

Many individuals in today’s world are seeking cosmetic solutions that will help them attain smooth skin. If this is the case for you, it's important to know that Bellafill can be uniquely beneficial. If you link Bellafill may be right for you, contact us today to schedule a consultation!

How Does Tattoo Removal Work?

Although a tattoo will naturally fade over time, a permanent tattoo cannot fade completely. To completely erase a permanent tattoo with minimal pain experience it is highly recommended that you use a laser to break up the tattoo's black ink particles. Wondering what this procedure entails?

How Laser Tattoo Removal Works

The ink used to imprint tattoos on the skin is composed of compounds from heavy metals. These heavy metals include lead, manganese, and copper. There are red inks that even contain mercury pigments. These heavy metals are what gives the tattoos their permanence. The tattoo ink is embedded in the deepest layers of the skin known as the dermis. When you get a permanent tattoo, the black ink is inserted into the dermis at varying depths.

A tattoo laser removal tool operates in short frequency, extremely fast (to the trillionth of a second) beam of light. They work by applying heat to the embedded tattoo ink in the dermis. The heat will make the ink particles to expand at very fast rates, in doing this, the lasers zap is fast enough such that half of the ink particle remains hot whereas the other is cold. The heat and cool mechanism will rip the ink particle apart. This process is called photothermolysis.

Breaking Up the Ink Particles

The laser beam will then break the ink particles into small particles. The white blood cells can now easily engulf the small ink particles and transport them to the liver where they can be broken down further for excretion. The laser light works by reaching first to shallow ink and shattering the particles before going deeper.

You may require multiple treatments using the laser light in order to penetrate the varying ink depths in the tattoo. The darker the tattoo, the more treatments you will require to remove it. This process is slightly painful because the laser removal tool heats the ink to high temperatures in a matter of seconds. This heat is specifically directed to a specific region, it will not burn any surrounding tissues.

If you are looking for trusted medical professionals to remove your tattoo, look no further. Gulf Coast Facial Plastic & ENT Center has a team of dedicated experts who'll ensure minimal pain throughout your tattoo removal process. Contact us today and say goodbye to your tattoo!

Enhancing Your Skin for Summer

Summertime is almost here! Which means it’s time to start focusing on brightening up your skin. While you may have been hydrating and moisturizing your skin all year, there are some special skincare tips that you should put into practice before summer hits. In order to make sure your skin is protected from the Florida summer sun, follow these three tips:

While the sun certainly provides a glow all its own, the secret to truly shining skin starts with exfoliation. If you don't already regularly exfoliate, you'll want to start before summer arrives. With the proper tools and techniques, exfoliation will lead to smoother, healthier looking skin that creates a glow about you. Exfoliation essentially strips away the body's outer layer of dead skin cells, allowing the fresh, healthy skin underneath to be revealed.

Use a Healthy Diet to Build Better Skin

While sunscreen is great for protecting your skin against UV rays and skin cancer, there are certain foods you can add to your healthy diet to enhance the protection from sunscreen. Cooked tomatoes are an excellent choice to help your body fight off the effects of the sun's rays and any threat of skin cancer. Additionally, drinking a lot of water will help you hydrate and moisturize your body and skin, keeping you glowing all summer long.

Focus on Clearing Up Your Skin

Even adults find that their skin is just as oily as it was back in high school. Unfortunately, that means that acne can return with a vengeance, just as it did when you were a teenager. Acne can be a problem on the body as well as on the face. Before summertime gets here, it's a good idea to focus your efforts on getting clear skin all over your body. Make an appointment with a skin care specialist to see what methods you should try to clear your skin. Additionally, make sure to exfoliate often and treat your skin with your prescribed medications.

As the largest organ on your body, your skin should always be treated with special care. With summer on its way, you'll want to make sure you look your best. By following these four tips, you'll be able to make sure you're ready for those sunny Florida days of summer.

What are the Benefits of Microneedling?

Microneedling is a form of treatment that uses tiny acupuncture needs of a device to create tiny holes. These needles create electrical impulses that stimulate cell growth. The growth stimulated creates glowing, rejuvenated skin. The newly regenerated skin contains a new full layer of collagen responsible for a healthier, youthful appearance. It is frequently used to reduce scars, wrinkles, and stretch marks. Here are some of the benefits of Microneedling:

1. Creates new, rejuvenated skin

The procedure triggers growth of new skin cells. When the micro-electrical currents flow back and forth between cells, the blood flow is enhanced. In stimulating the blood flow between the cells, you are heightening blood flow to the skin. The elevated blood flow optimizes the production of stronger, healthy skin at the dermis level. It can even minimize the appearance of scars.

2. Shrinks pores for firmer skin

The treatment shrinks the pores of the skin. The technology used causes skin cells to appear much smaller. In stimulating the skin growth surrounding your pores, the pores begin to swell. The swelling effect is what makes your pores to appear much smaller. Smaller pores give the effect of tighter, firm skin.

3. Treatment plus products makes a winning combination

People invest lots of money on skin care products but are only able to see minimal results when using them. The treatment provides the advantage of enhancing the performance of the skin care products. People who use products like serum or other topical medications stand to benefit greatly from the process. The millions of punctures in the skin help the skin respond better to any products used in the skin care regimen.

4. Reduces appearance of fine lines

As the skin ages, it becomes thinner. Thinner skin leads to sagging and creases. Skin loses its resilience to the elements and loses elasticity. The micro-needling stimulates the growth of elastin to produce healthy skin. It also produces collagen that may minimize the appearance of age spots and scars. More collagen and elastin has a toning effect on the skin, restoring firmness.

5. Prevents common signs of aging

Microneedling also has the added benefit of preventing common signs of aging like wrinkles. In treating the skin consistently with micro-needling, the skin responds better to antioxidant-rich serums. As a result, the antioxidant serum can brighten the skin, producing a glowing effect. When you combine regular treatment with an antioxidant regimen, you can effectively prevent signs of aging like wrinkles from occurring.

The process is a painless procedure that takes less than an hour to complete. Most patients are able to resume work or their normal routine the same day following the procedure. If you are interested in scheduling an appointment, contact our office today!

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

Laser hair removal is a popular aesthetic medical treatment for both women and men. It is simple, effective and requires minimal downtime. We see patients in our office regularly for laser hair removal treatments and love helping patients achieve their hairless goals for smooth skin.

What is the laser hair removal process like?

The laser hair removal process begins with a consultation. We like to have consultations with our new patients to make sure that they are a good candidate for laser hair removal treatments because not all patients are good candidates. A good candidate for laser hair removal treatments is someone who has dark hair follicles that the laser can target. We also look at the color of the skin. Pale skin is easiest to treat, but we do have lasers that can work on tanned and darker skinned patients.

If you begin laser hair removal treatments, you will notice that we start by giving you protective eyewear. This eyewear will keep your eyes safe from the laser beams given off by the machine. The precise laser will enter the skin and attack the dark hair follicle. This procedure reduces the amount of hair you have and when hair begins to grow back, it is noticeably lighter and softer. The key to achieving this result is coming in for multiple treatments. Most patients need 6-8 treatments.

What are some of the most popular areas for laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal is a precise, safe and effective method of hair removal. It can effectively be used in many areas. The most popular areas in our clinic for women are the legs, underarms, bikini area, lip and chin area. The most popular areas in our clinic for men are the neck, beard, back, shoulders, chest and stomach areas. We also see women who are interested in removing hair from their forearms or the “happy trail” area on their stomach. As long as there is a dark hair follicle present, laser hair removal can be used.

What is the laser hair removal recovery process like?

The laser hair removal recovery process is fairly simple. Most patients can resume their normal day-to-day activities immediately following the procedure. However, there are a few after-care items to keep in mind.

  1. Avoid the sun - Your skin should be kept out of the sun for the next week or two to allow the vulnerable skin to heal.
  2. Avoid exercising for 24 hours - Your skin should be given a little time to recover before sweating.
  3. Hydration - Keep your skin hydrated post-treatment by drinking enough water and by using gentle lotions
  4. Reactions - You may experience some swelling around the follicles and may also experience some redness. These reactions should cease within 48 hours. Do not be alarmed. If you experience pain, redness or swelling for more than 48 hours, give us a call at our medical spa and we can advise you on next steps to help you heal more quickly.

It’s NOT the “brand” … It’s the man!

It’s NOT the “brand” … It’s the man! - Blog

Gulf Coast Facial Plastics and ENT Center has a remarkable reputation in Bay County. However, a brand is only as good as the services provided, and the status rests on what consumers actually believe about those amenities. That’s why it was so gratifying to Dr. Daniel Daube to have received not one, but two designations in the “Best of Bay” for Bay County as designated within The News Herald.

“Gulf Coast Facial Plastics and ENT Center puts great emphasis on courtesy and professionalism in dealing with visitors to our medical facility. In fact, treating patients with respect and dignity is part of our Mission Statement,” said Dr. Daube. “We strive to provide quality medical care enhanced by compassion and understanding for the needs of our patients. Word-of-mouth marketing has built our practice into one of the foremost treatment options in Northwest Florida – although our patients also come from across the US as well as throughout the world!”

Dr. Daube was voted the best Cosmetic Surgeon, and was also in the top three Medical Specialists in the county. What makes this so significant is the fact that “word of mouth” advertising is THE most powerful marketing for any physician.

The doctors and staff and Gulf Coast Facial Plastics and ENT Center would like to invite residents and visitors to come to their facility to see what others have found to be true – they are “Where Art and Medicine Come Face to Face.”©

4 Ways to Win Against Wrinkles

4 Ways to Win Against Wrinkles - Blog

Winter, spring, summer, or fall, there are several ways you can counter wrinkles.

1) Top-of-the-mind awareness for those of us living on the Gulf of Mexico is not to “bake” in the sun. Harsh tanning turns the skin to a leather look that is almost impossible to reverse. And, of course, it should go without saying, tanning booths absolutely are not an option! In addition, always be careful of UVA rays, even when you are in your car where the sun can still penetrate. It is important to protect your skin, every single day, with a broad-spectrum sunscreen. We also carry Jane Iredale Sunless Tanner. Ask our Aesthetician about other products we carry for just this sort of protection.

2) Diet and water are two great combinations. A heart-healthy diet, filled with fruits and vegetables, along with several glasses of water each day, will ensure not only more healthy skin, but toxins will be flushed from your body. Specifically, include foods that are high in vitamins C and E, as well as soy and green tea, instead of dehydrating fluids. When your skin is nourished, wrinkles are less likely to form.

3) Genetics do play an important part in how your face wrinkles, as does how much you laugh, frown, furrow your brow, or smile, which increases crow’s-feet. But with the latest in injectables, we offer a way to counter wrinkling and sagging of the facial area, and can even treat the more fine wrinkles around the eyes and mouth. Restylane Silk is the newest product that can literally turn back time! Those fine lines around the lips caused by aging, sun-damage, smoking, or just from a genetic tendency to turn down, can be easily and effectively treated.

4) There are simple things you can do to decrease wrinkles like varying your sleeping position each night so as not to favor one side of the face over another. In fact, it’s better to sleep on your back. Our office has numerous ways to rejuvenate your skin that will reduce wrinkling. We not only have topical lotions, but also special peels and laser treatments that will give you reason to smile at your wrinkle-free reflection!

At Gulf Coast Facial Plastics and ENT Center, our aesthetic spa should be your first call when wrinkles have taken a toll on your skin. Dr. Daube is also the region’s only Board Certified as well as Fellowship-trained Facial Plastic Surgeon. He runs his practice by his slogan: Where Art and Medicine Come Face to Face.© We suggest you try and manage your wrinkles as much as possible by following the four suggestions above, but when you can’t achieve the results you’d like to see with your skin, scheduling an appointment with our medical professionals will help remove those pesky wrinkles. Call us, today!

A Personal Testimonial about Restylane Silk®

In medicine, there is nothing better than word-of-mouth marketing, especially when it comes to new products on the market.

Dr. Daniel Daube of Gulf Coast Facial Plastics and ENT Center has been chosen to introduce Restylane Silk® to the Bay County area. This first and only FDA-approved filler is designed, specifically, for the treatment of lips and the lines around them caused by aging, sun damage, smoking, or a genetic condition where the lips naturally turn down.

Kasey K. was the first patient to be injected by Dr. Daube, and her testimonial is as glowing about the product as her face is when she speaks of her outcome. Kasey is a 23-year-old college student who plans to get married in the fall of this year.

“I was very self-conscious of my upper lip, because it was so small. In school, I was made fun of due to the thinness of my lip, which really hurt my feelings, and I figured if these people notice my lack of lip definition, others must as well. I’ve always wanted fuller lips, but there weren’t any options I could afford,” said Kasey.

“I chose Dr. Daube because I’d heard he is the best doctor to go to for injectables, and the only one who offered Restylane Silk.® He assessed my lips and gave me injections in my upper and lower lip. I was delighted when he was also able to correct the problem that my lips turned down.”

So were the results as she expected?

“It was everything I expected and more! My lips were not too big or too small, they were absolutely perfect,” said Kasey.

What about pain?

“Because I got numbing medication, there actually was no pain involved with the procedure.”

So, would she do it again and recommend it to others?

“Yes, I would definitely recommend it, especially since I have my wedding coming up. In fact, I might get it touched up a month or two ahead of the ceremony. This first time, I wanted to do a ‘dry run’ to see how it would look, because I wanted fuller lips for my wedding. I’m so much more confident now, because my lips are fuller.”

What about follow-up with the medical staff?

“I had a very thorough conversation with the nurse who gave me a booklet of everything I needed to do following the injection. Dr. Daube was also very helpful in explaining the after-care needed, which was minimal. I followed all the instructions and the only thing that was a bit unusual was getting used to the odd sensation of having the fuller lips I’ve always wanted. Also, I was encouraged to call the office if I had any questions. Everyone was very nice and attentive both before and after the procedure.”

Only a small number of trained physicians in the U.S. are offering this product, and Panama City is one of those areas. “I am very proud to have been chosen as one of the physicians in the nation to introduce this product to our region,” said Dr. Daube.

The product is injected into a patient’s lip and/or area around the mouth in one or two sessions as needed. The process typically takes less than an hour. Call our office to schedule a consult regarding any injectables or cosmetic facial plastic surgery you may desire.

Restylane Silk® is produced by the makers of Restylane—Galderma. Galderma is a global healthcare company founded in 1981, which focuses on skin health.

February is Children’s ENT Health Month

February is Children’s ENT Health Month - Blog

Parents must be vigilant in the care of their children’s ears, nose, and throat. According to the American Academy of Otolaryngology, national health statistics reveal that pediatric ear, nose, and throat disorders remain among the primary reasons children visit a physician, with ear infections ranking as the number one reason for an appointment. From earaches to choking hazards, kids can suffer from a variety of ailments that require prompt diagnosis and treatment.

At Gulf Coast Facial Plastics and ENT Center our physicians are extremely familiar with all the ear, nose, and throat issues from which children suffer. Our physicians treat the following issues:

Breathing Difficulties – This is not unusual, especially in humid areas like Bay County, so we are adept in providing guidance as to how to treat any breathing complications prior to surgery being considered. Allergies may also be an issue.

Chronic Ear Problems – Unfortunately, this is all too common, especially in small children. Our physicians discount every option, but sometimes the insertion of ear tubes is the best decision to give your child relief. Chronic Ear Infectionsare, unfortunately, part of early childhood.

Cleft Lip/Palate – A cleft lip or palate (roof of the mouth) is a birth defect. Surgery to repair these birth defects are done at an early age, and may take multiple surgeries, in stages. Dr. Daube is not only an ear/nose/throat physician, but he is also the region’s only Board Certified and Fellowship-trained Facial Plastic Surgeon. He has been able to put a true smile on the faces of many children who suffer from this condition.

Nose Bleeds – Caused by a variety of reasons, nose bleeds are problematic because the amount of blood can be scary. Not only is this a troublesome condition, especially with children, but it could indicate a more serious problem. There are treatments available, but surgery is also an option.

Facial Nerve Injuries – Such as from dog bites, or any other facial trauma. Both Dr. Daniel Daube and Dr. James Beggs are adept in trauma surgery and stand ready to assist with any wounds that may be suffered by your child.

Hearing Loss – This is a problem parents need to be aware of early in the child’s life, as it can affect speech and other cognitive development. An ENT physician, who is used to treating children, can perform several tests to make the correct diagnosis.

Hypernasal Speech – This may be an indication of Nasal Deformities, Obstructions or other issues that need to be addressed. Sinus Infections may also be indicated as a condition to treat.

Sleep Disordered Breathing – Yes, children can actually experience Sleep Apnea. A sleep study may be necessary to determine if this is the correct diagnosis.

Tonsillitis – If you make frequent trips to the doctor with your child suffering from tonsillitis, then a tonsillectomy may be necessary to treat the infection or inflammation of the tonsils.

Adenoiditis and Adenoid Hypertrophy – Adenoids are located in the back of the mouth, on the soft palate. Adenoids are one of your throat’s first lines of defense, and they can often become inflamed. Removal of your adenoids is often done at the same time as a tonsillectomy, but the doctor will decide what is best for your child’s specific condition.

Rest assured, when you need the services of Board Certified physicians, the doctors at our practice are multi-trained, and available. Our physicians are adept in diagnosing the many conditions that may be a part of the early childhood years. Of utmost importance is the fact that none of the above conditions should be ignored or overlooked. Contact a doctor who is specialized in the surgery and treatment of children’s ear, nose, and throat issues. Early diagnosis can save you a lifetime of heartache.

What do I do if I'm diagnosed with a Thyroid Nodule?

What do I do if I'm diagnosed with a Thyroid Nodule? - Blog

At Gulf Coast Facial Plastics and ENT Center, our team of physicians is specialized in treating thyroid nodules.

According to WebMD, thyroid nodules are growths or lumps in the thyroid gland in the front of your neck. This gland controls how your body uses energy. It should be noted that most thyroid nodules are not cancerous and do not cause problems. In fact, many do not even need treatment, but unfortunately, some are cancerous, which is the reason they should be evaluated.

Big nodules manifest themselves by swelling in the neck, or you may be able to feel the nodule. It is also possible that you may:

  • Feel pain in your throat, or feel like your throat is “full”.
  • Have a hard time swallowing
  • Experience trouble breathing
  • Feel nervous, with a fast heartbeat; sweat a great deal; or, lose weight. (These are symptoms of hyperthyroidism, where the thyroid gland makes too much thyroid hormone.)
  • Be tired or depressed; have memory problems; be constipated; have dry skin; feel cold; or have other symptoms of hypothyroidism.

It may be necessary for one of our doctors to do a physical exam to determine if you have a thyroid nodule, and he/she will be specifically interested in what symptoms you display. Unfortunately, these nodules do not always cause symptoms, and may only be found from a CT scan or ultrasound.

We usually recommend certain tests to determine how well your thyroid is working, and to rule out cancer of the thyroid. Possible tests may include:

  • A blood test to check the level of thyroid hormone in your body.
  • A thyroid scan, which uses radioactive material with a camera to see how well your thyroid gland is working. (This test is done to see if the level of thyroid hormone is high.)
  • A fine-needle aspiration will remove a small amount of material from the nodule, which will then be checked for cancer cells.
  • A thyroid ultrasound, to see the number and size of nodules present, or to locate the nodule in order to conduct the fine-needle aspiration.

Thyroid nodules are more common as a person ages, and experts have shown that thyroid nodules tend to run in families. If surgery is indicated, we will discuss not only what to expect, but what the follow-up treatment will entail.

All our specialists are adept at diagnosing thyroid cancer, and Dr. Jim Beggs is the region’s only Board Certified Head and Neck cancer surgeon, so we are exceptionally equipped to advocate with you—the whole person—to get to the root of any thyroid problems you may be experiencing. We have two locations to serve you, so call to make an appointment with one of our physicians to begin your thyroid stimulating hormone testing.

During the Thanksgiving season, we often look back over the year and consider all the things we’re grateful to have received. But the season may also remind us of things we wish we hadn’t done. In some cases, we can correct our mistakes, repair relationships, and move on. With tattoos, that can especially be the case. At Gulf Coast Facial Plastics and ENT Center, we specialize in tattoo removal services.

A tattoo might have seemed like a good idea at the time, but now personal and/or career changes might have you wondering if it’s possible to change your mind.

The Answer? Yes! On the average, professional tattoos require 6-8 laser removal treatments (amateur tattoos may require less). The majority of patients do not require any anesthesia and only antibacterial ointment and a dressing will be applied immediately after treatment. To get started, we’ll be happy to discuss the procedure and any questions you may have regarding the specifics of tattoo removal.

Dr. Daube is the region’s only Board Certified and Fellowship-trained Facial Plastic Surgeon, so he brings unique abilities to his ENT and Facial Plastic specialty, and tattoo removal is just one of the skin’s issues that we can treat. Dr. Daube has been using medical lasers longer than any other MD in Bay County.

Treating Port-Wine Stains on the Face

Treating Port-Wine Stains on the Face - Blog

According to the National Institutes of Health, port-wine stains occur in about 3 out of 1,000 people. A port-wine stain is a birthmark where swollen blood vessels create a reddish-purplish discoloration of the skin. They are usually flat and pink in appearance, but the color can deepen to a dark red or purplish color over time.

Dr. Daniel Daube can usually diagnose a port-wine stain by a visual exam. In unusual cases, a skin biopsy may be needed, which depends on the location and other symptoms that may be present.

Over time, many procedures have been tried for port-wine stains, to include freezing, surgery, radiation, and tattooing. However, we have found that laser therapy is the most successful option in eliminating port-wine stains. The exact type of laser used depends on the person’s age and the particular type of stain. It is a proven fact that stains, especially on the face, respond better to laser therapy than those on the arms, legs, or middle of the body. And, older stains may be more difficult to treat.

Dr. Daube is the region’s only Board Certified and Fellowship-trained Facial Plastic Surgeon, so he brings unique abilities to his ENT and Facial Plastic specialty, and Port-wine stain treatment is just one of the skin’s abnormalities that he can treat. Dr. Daube has been using medical lasers longer than any other MD in Bay County.

It’s that time of year when you need to consider whether or not you’ve met your medical deductibles and can consider having additional issues addressed. But by definition, an insurance deductible is the amount of money the insured will need to pay before any benefits from the health insurance policy can be used. Have you met the amount you have to pay out of pocket for healthcare procedures with your insurance? And, don’t forget to research any co-pays required. Now is the time to check your status before the end of December!

Top 3 Ways to Winterize Your Skin

Top 3 Ways to Winterize Your Skin - Blog

Fall is the perfect time to begin “winterizing” your skin. Prevention is always your best ally for great skin care. When the weather begins to change … so should your skin routine.

Here are the top three (3) steps to incorporate into your schedule:

1) Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize to prevent the dryness that comes during the winter months.

Facial moisturizers are such an important part of a daily skincare routine. At Gulf Coast Facial Plastics and ENT Center, we offer our Obagi® Hydrate for daytime moisturizing. Then, the Obagi Hydrate Lux is recommended for nighttime moisturizing. The Lux has all the benefits of the Hydrate, plus contains powerful ingredients engineered to work while you sleep. Both these options are long lasting facial moisturizers that reduce water loss at the skin’s surface, and continuously release moisturizing ingredients. Both are appropriate for all skin types and ages.

2) A daily sunscreen should always be used, even on cloudy days! Our Obagi moisturizing Sunshield is a great product to keep your skin hydrated as well as protected from the sun’s harsh rays. This unique product protects your skin from both UVA and UVB rays! REMEMBER: Sunscreen is the #1 skincare product to use for anti-aging.

3) Last, choose relaxing, hydrating facials either weekly or monthly. At our medical spa, we offer the Silk Peel Dermalinfusion that exfoliates the dry, dead skin cells while infusing the skin with Hyaluronic acid (a natural hydrator) and Vitamin C, which is also a great anti-oxidant.

One of the biggest skincare misconceptions evolves dry skin vs dehydrated skin.

Dry skin is genetically predetermined and is characterized by insufficient oil gland activity.

And remember, if your skin is dry due to genetic causes, look for moisturizing products that contain emollients, as well as humectants, to seal in the moisture. Some examples include shea butter, vitamin E, and allantonin

Dehydrated skin is characterized by lack of moisture due to such factors as climate and over cleansing. Therefore, even oily skin types can suffer from dehydrated skin. If your skin is dehydrated due to environmental causes, look for moisturizing products that contain humectants to seal the moisture in, and hydrating agents, such as hyaluronic acid to increase the water content in the epidermis.

If you aren’t sure if your skin issues are as a result of genetics or the environment, call us at Gulf Coast Facial Plastics and ENT Center and schedule your appointment! Exciting New Technology ACCENTs Skin Tightening

Exciting New Technology ACCENTs Skin Tightening - Blog

The Accent XL is finally here and there is a lot of buzz going around about the results we are seeing at Gulf Coast Facial Plastics and ENT Center with this non-surgical procedure!

What is it?

It’s a radio-frequency non-surgical procedure for improving the skin’s laxity and causes tissue shrinkage anywhere on the face or body.

How does it work?

A laser delivers a beam of high intensity Near-Infrared Light that sweeps gently over the skin, deeply penetrating the skin tissue right through to the dermis layer of the skin. The light heats the water content of your skin, which stimulates the collagen and causes the skin to contract and tighten.

Will it hurt?

Treatment is often like a comfortable massage and considered by most to be painless. There will be a warm sensation. The cooling device within the treatment hand piece protects the skin from excess heat application.

How long does the treatment take?

Treatments can last from 30-45 minutes depending on the size of the area to be treated and the skin type.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments will depend upon the area to be covered and the condition of the skin. Usually 4-6 treatments are recommended.

When will I notice an improvement?

Immediately! However, you will see further improvements develop gradually over a period of 1-3 months as new collagen is formed and your skin thickens and feels tighter and smoother.

How long will the treatments last?

The results will last for several years with recommended maintenance treatments every 6- 12 months.

So, if you’re needing tightening under the chin, jowls and neck then this is definitely for you! This technology also works great on smoothing and reducing the fat cells on other parts of your body.
